Side tables, coffee tables, pub tables, etc.
This was another commission build - a shaker style cherry dining table. It has simple, clean lines and was a joy to build and measures 38" by 60". Sealed with a natural oil/wax finish.
This was a commission build for an old friend from graduate school days. Together we came up with the design and chose the wood. In this case, its Sapele; a close cousin to true mahogany but not endangered. This sapele is quarter sawn, a technique for sawing logs that creates a beautiful effect of light and dark ribbons in the wood.
This is a commission build and it was a fun one. It measures roughly 22" by 42" and has hairpin legs. The grain is beautiful by itself but further enhanced by the spalting in the wood.
This is the companion piece to the coffee table to the left. Both pieces were made from the same large maple slab, but for this table I had to cut and shape a faux live edge on three sides. Again, hairpin legs.
This is a bench I made for our basement built in a sanctuary style. It has beadboard inset on the two sides and on the back. The body is made from solid poplar and finished with multiple coats of primer and off-white enamel. Underneath, it has room for tall boots and six pairs of shoes. It measures 38" wide X 31" tall X 17" deep. I'd love to build another one just for you!
This is a live edge walnut coffee table in a cantilever design in the tradition of legendary woodworker and designer George Nakashima. Of all the pieces that I've built over the years, this is one of my favorites.
This is a live a edge walnut hallway table that I sold to a customer a few years ago. I love the way the lighter sapwood contrasts with the darker heartwood on the top and shelf.
I wanted something different from the standard legs/apron base for this solid cherry table so I experimented with a few different designs. Eventually I settled on this. The curved sides help accentuate the live edge top and the feet have a sort of sculptured look. The top has a dark green epoxy inlay that goes nicely with the cherry wood. It is finished with multiple coats of polyurethane. This one sold, but if you would like one just contact us!
This is one of the first side tables I built. It features a live edge walnut top with a white oak strip running along its length. The legs have a walnut strip sandwiched between white oak.
I built this after I built the previous side table. It features a live edge white oak top with a walnut strip running along its length. The legs and stretcher are walnut sandwiched between white oak.
I built this because I wanted to experiment with making an elliptical table top. It features a pedestal base made with walnut.
This was commission build. The customer wanted a pub height table in a dark wood, so we decided to build it out of walnut. I went to the local mill and found a live edge slab with spectacular grain patterns that she liked. I suggested a pedestal base with crossing feet.
I built this a number of years ago. My wife uses it as a side table in the living room.
One of my wife's requests. It took a lot of wood to build this. In addition, it was a challenge because there are no metal fasteners showing on the outside.
